Allianz 4000 – World’s first hybrid street sweeper

The green things are coming to the vogue pretty fast and the latest machine from Allianz Sweeper Company will add more to cleaner and greener environment. Dubbed the Allianz 4000 hybrid sweeper, the world’s first hybrid street cleaner is currently in use in NY City. In addition to a 6.7 liter Cummins diesel engine to power it, the eco friendly vehicle features two 12-volt lithium-ion batteries and an electric-traction drive system that helps save an estimated 40 to 45 percent fuel over its diesel-only counterpart. In order to propel the sweeper and spin a broom, the manufacturing company has set the differential in such a way to turn broom at a fixed speed irrespective of how fast the vehicle goes. Allianz sweeper reduces emissions, noise levels, touches the speeds up to 60 mph with reduced maintenance and can clean roads between 3 and 7 mph. Allianz hasn’t disclosed the cost for per unit as of now.
